Common questions

How do I know I have been sued?
You will receive legal documents by mail or from a process server. The first page should be a 'Citation,' which will state that you have been sued.
What is the deadline to respond if I am sued?
The deadline to file an 'Answer' is noted on the Citation. In County or District Courts, it is the first Monday after 20 days from receiving the documents, and in Justice Court, it is 14 days.
